国际教育学院是学校为推进教育国际化战略，培养国际化技术技能人才，吸收和利用国内外优质教育资源而设立的二级教学学院，是学校教育对外开放办学的重要窗口，主要承担学校中外合作办学项目学生的培养与管理、国际学生的教学与管理、全校本科和高职公共英语教学、外语类专业学生的教学与管理等工作。
The School of International Education, as a subordinate college, was set up for the sake of advancing the strategy of education internationalization, of cultivating highly-skilled technicians and craftsmen with global vision, and of absorbing and utilizing high-quality educational resources at home and abroad. It serves as such an important outward-opening window speaking for our university-running idea of globalization that it not only shoulders all the teaching, training and management of both Chinese and foreign students in Chinese-foreign joint education programs, but also undertakes both general English teaching and English-major teaching for undergraduates and higher vocational students in our university.
国际教育学院始创于2000年，时称外语系，2008年更名为应用外语系，2017年更名为国际教育学院。现有专职教师57人，其中教授3人，副教授20人， “双师型”教师35人，兼职教师21人，多名教师拥有海外工作、研修及培训经历。建有数字交互语言互动实训室、国际同声传译实训室、外语3D虚拟仿真实训室、中国传统文化体验馆、1+X职业技能取证实训室、HSK培训室等校内实训基地。
Founded in 2000 and initially called the Department of Foreign Languages, the School of International Education was renamed the Department of Applied Foreign Languages in 2008 and then got its current name in 2017. Today it owns a faculty of 57：3 professors, 20 associate professors, as well as 21 part-time teachers. Besides, 35 of all the teachers have been recognized as "dual-qualified" after acquiring certain professional certificates and quite a few teachers have overseas work, study and training experience. In addition, the School has set up a series of training bases: a digital interactive language training room, an international simultaneous interpretation training room, a foreign language 3D virtual scene VR training room, a Chinese traditional culture experience hall, a 1+X vocational skills verification training room, and an HSK training room.
多年来，学院立足行业要求，以就业市场为导向，在国际化办学、人才培养、企业员工培训等方面形成了鲜明特色。自2017年起招收“一带一路”沿线国家留学生，培养了一批来自文莱、老挝、巴基斯坦、塔吉克斯坦、吉尔吉斯斯坦、哈萨克斯坦和印尼的“会英语、懂工程、知管理、善交际”的国际化高素质技术技能型人才，国际化办学取得实效。承担了兰州石化公司研究院、中石油第二建设公司、中石化第五建设公司、兰州寰球工程公司等企业的员工英语培训，形成区域影响较大的社会（企业）英语培训品牌。与多家企业密切合作，建立校外实训基地，开展协同育人，为学生实训、实习与就业提供平台。学生毕业后赴沙特、科威特等国及国内石化、外贸、旅游企业就业，毕业生一次性就业率连续多年达到96%以上。
Over the years, based on industries’ requirements and oriented by job market, the School has formed its own distinctive features in international education, talent training, and corporate employees’ training. Since 2017, it has enrolled and trained a large number of international students from countries along the “Belt and Road” such as Brunei, Laos, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Indonesia. These students are praised as internationalized high-quality technical and skilled talents who “know English, understand engineering, grasp management principles, and excel in communication”. It is fair to say that internationalized schooling has achieved practical results.What’s more, it has also undertaken English training for employees of Lanzhou Petrochemical Research Institute, China Petroleum Second Construction Company, Sinopec Fifth Construction Company, Lanzhou Huanqiu Engineering Company and other enterprises, and has formed a social (enterprise) English training brand with great regional influence. By working closely with many companies, it has established off-campus training bases providing a platform for students' practical training, internships and employment and making joint talents-nurturing fulfilled. After graduation, students can go to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other countries or find jobs in petrochemical, foreign trade, and tourism enterprises at home. The initial employment rate of graduates has consistently exceeded 96% for several consecutive years.
国际教育学院持续深化外语教育“三教”改革，充分发挥“以赛促教、以赛促学、以赛促改”的积极作用，遵循“一人一赛，全员参与”的拔尖人才培养机制，学生连续14年在全国和省级英语专业大赛中获奖111项次，其中省级特等奖26项，国赛奖励9项。学院教师在“外研社教学之星大赛”、“全国外语微课大赛”、“全国高校外语教学大赛”等比赛中屡获佳绩。作为教育部1+X证书实用英语职业技能等级考试（VETS）全国示范基地，国际教育学院不断深化产教融合，协同育人，构建“书证融通”体系。现为全国智能语言服务行业产教融合共同体副理事长单位，中国高校外语慕课联盟副理事单位，北京外国语大学“语言类国家级‘双师型’基地教学实践合作单位”。
The School of International Education keeps deepening the reforms in foreign language education, letting various competitions play a guiding role in teaching, learning and reforms. Running well on the system for training top-notch talented students, the School has fully prepared its students and has won 111 awards (including 26 provincial special prizes and 9 national competition awards) in English contests nationally and provincially for 14 years in a row. Besides, teachers here also win awards in competitions such as the "FLTRP Star Teacher Contest", "National Micro-courses for Foreign Language Competition", and "SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest" many times. As the national demonstration base for obtaining 1+X Certificate in Vocational English TestSystem (VETS) advocated by the Ministry of Education, the School insists on boosting the integration between industry and education, nurturing talents jointly and setting up a system to guarantee students to get "academic certificate with as many vocational qualifications as possible". It is currently entitled as the vice-director unit not only of the National Intelligent Language Service Community, but the one of UMOOCs, and even better, it has become cooperating unit to establish “National Language ‘Double-qualified’ Base with Beijing Foreign Studies University.
经过20余年的建设、改革与发展，学院实训条件不断完善，办学实力不断增强，教育质量不断提高，育人环境和社会服务功能更加完善。面向未来，国际教育学院将致力于建设成为一个国际化特色鲜明的教学单位，着力培养更多具有全球化视野、兼备本土化行动能力的国际化专业人才，成为学校提升整体国际化办学水平的探索者和先行者。
Looking back at the past two decades, we’ve witnessed the school’s growth, development and reform, which makes our training bases become better and better, school-running level and teaching quality higher and higher, with excellent cultivation environment and fully-equipped social service functions. Looking into the future, the School of International Education is committed to building itself as a teaching entity with more distinctive features, and cultivating more globally minded professionals with strong local expertise. The School is proud to take on the role of both explorer and pioneer in elevating the international education standards of our university.
